What You Need to Know:
Matt escaped his captures on the Moon and interrupts the homecoming dance while the Rangers have discovered the impostor Matt. Fight on.
What Just Happened?
This issue’s opening sequence shows how Goldar became Rita’s number two and unlike TV Rita, she is smarter and understands others will take her off the chess board and how to win her team over. The Rangers face an overwhelming foe in this impostor who has tripled in mass and shaped its body to be lethal. The impostor has complete confidence in its abilities to win this fight, after all, this was what it was created for. After months of observation, it can end the Rangers, especially as it shapeshifts to look like them to throw them off balance. But then again, the impostor has become something more than Rita ever intended.
Is the alien friend or foe? Whatever could have happened, the imposter has no will control as Rita uses Bamboo to control the putty. The monster grows and it is time for Megazord power, but Rita has always wanted one her own and the impostor turns into one and the battle is epic. With teamwork, there is only one true outcome.
This issue ties up all the recent arcs and the end scenes shoe some of the raw issues the teens have had to deal with. I mean, being a superhero must be tough, but at least the Rangers have each other. I also liked Bulk’s moment in this issue and it is a shame he lost the girl and never became homecoming queen. I am almost gutted that he gave in; I wanted him to defeat the prom queen and her warning. I hope this is not the end of the story. But even surviving the aliens, I wonder what will happen to Matt?
