Today it has been announced that Frank Miller has entered a deal for a further five projects with DC, continuing his well established relationship with the publisher. Included in the upcoming releases is a work aimed at younger readers starring young vigilante Carrie Kelley who debuted in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Is there any better way to ease new fans into comics than our favourite eccentrically armed Batman fanatic? I think not!
This news follows the previous announcement of Superman: Year One. This exciting tribute to Superman’s roots is definitely one to look out for, for comic book veterans and new fans alike. In reference to Miller’s upcoming works, DC Publisher Dan DiDio says, “He is an icon. As a publisher, I’m thrilled—as a fan, I’m even more excited.”
“Frank Miller is an absolute visionary… He continues to push the boundaries of storytelling, and I can’t wait for a new generation of fans to meet Carrie Kelley.” says DC Publisher Jim Lee, who also enthuses about Ben Caldwell’s illustrations being featured on the project. “Joining Frank as collaborator on Carrie Kelley is one of my favorite artists–Ben Caldwell, a singular talent who brings his stylized, clean line and rock solid, playful storytelling to this project. We couldn’t ask for a better creative team.”
Although two parts of this five-project deal have been revealed, the remaining three are yet to be announced.
