What You Need to Know:
Gwen has finally gotten a chance to take out her nemesis, Matt Murdock, after facing her friend, Captain America, to get to him. But at the last moment, she decides to let him live. Not liking the outcome, Murdock pulls out a space-time gate watch and pulls Gwen into a different timeline where she is confronted by another Gwen Stacy!
In This Issue:
Spider-Gwen and Gwen Stacey have met and neither know what to do; even going to Reed Richards of this universe isn’t helpful. The two struggle not just with each other, but with themselves as each are discussing their lives and dark issues in their respective universes. Finding comfort in each other, they vow to find a way for Spider-Gwen to get back home.
Meanwhile, the Watchers are trying to figure out who is behind messing with all the Gwen timelines. Thinking they found the culprits, all of them are shocked when the real mastermind steps forward, and no one is ready for her!
My Thoughts:
Ok, let’s start off with the art style because it is significant in this issue. We know and love Rodriguez’s art style since Gwen debuted. But now with the introduction of original-Gwen, the art style has a change with that Gwen. It’s interesting to see new-Gwen and old-Gwen sitting together, not just cause it’s a surreal moment for Gwen fans, but because seeing the art style of them together is kind of cool, not to mention a quick cameo by Peter Parker in his old school style is just adorable. The dialogue can be a bit intense if you’ve forgotten that original-Gwen was ridiculously smart compared to our rockstar-Gwen but once the two get into it, some pretty deep emotions come out. Also, if you didn’t read any of the crossover issues with Gwen and Miles Morales, you may be a bit confused as to who those Spider-kids are, but no worries; it’s pretty obvious once you read a little bit in.
