New publisher, Aftershock Comics, makes a new hire to expand its editorial team. Today it was confirmed that the publisher, founded in 2015, has acquired Christina Harrington as a new Managing Editor. She expressed in a statement that she is, “excited to start the next step of my career with AfterShock. Comic books hold a special place in my heart, and to be able to contribute to the history of beloved comic book publishers is a real dream come true — especially since I get to work alongside the rest of this great publishing team at AfterShock.”
Harrington has been editing with Marvel for the last 3 years, including works like All-New Wolverine, Hulk, and X-Men Red. She worked under Co-Founder and Editor in Chief of Aftershock Comics, Mike Marts. He shared in his own statement, “Christina was a brilliant hire for me at Marvel, and she’ll no doubt be instrumental to AfterShock’s continued success. Her editorial skills are some of the best I’ve come across and we’re extremely lucky to have her joining us as AfterShock’s Managing Editor.”
Aftershock Comics boasts creators like Mark Waid (Captain Kid), Brian Azzarello (American Monster), Warren Ellis (Shipwreck & A Walk Through Hell), and Garth Ennis (Jimmy’s Bastards). But also noted by The Mary Sue, have many projects by women with women’s stories, Marguerite Bennett (Animosity, InSEXts) and Amanda Conner (Superzero) and this hire potentially serves as broader statement of the shock to the comics system, Aftershock has in store for us.
