RECAP: Basically all you need to know is that Enchantress was killed in the last arc.

THIS WEEK: With Enchantress gone, Waller wants to fill the open spot on the team and Floyd Lawton, AKA Deadshot is a recently acquired asset to the Belle Reve prison. However, his daughter, Zoe, has been taken by Kobra in order to exact revenge against Deadshot.

Being stuck in Belle Reve is not exactly what Deadshot (or anyone in his situation) wants. But Waller has already outfitted him with a brain bomb and has no intention of letting him out of her sight. However, Batman has something else in store for Lawton.

Knowing what it’s like to have your kid unwillingly involved with a death cult, Batman is determined to help Lawton save his daughter, and thus the breakout begins. But not without its complications. It’s a riveting display of wit and force as Batman battles his way out only to have Waller bring out a surprise at the end that will take the next few issues up a notch.

I really enjoyed this issue. And I’m excited to see where it’s going. Unlike last weeks Waller show issue, this one has a lot of potential even though it doesn’t seem as focused on the entire Suicide Squad. I also like how high the stakes are for Batman. He knows that if Waller has her way, he’ll get a brain bomb and be stuck doing her bidding like the rest of them. Overall, I loved the setup and execution of Batman’s plan and hope that the coming issues are as interesting. I also hope we see more than a panel of the other members of the squad. Are they going to like working with Lawton? How is his addition going to affect the squad? We’ll have to wait and see.
  • Clean start
  • Intriguing plot
  • Still lacking the whole Squad

Have your say!
