Oh, Brian Michael Bendis you amazing human. not even at DC a year and you give me the gift many have been asking for since the new 52 altered them. The return of Connor Kent, Tim Drake, Bart Allen and Cassie Sandsmark in Young Justice! Being able to “text anyone they need for their adventures”, Bendis along with artist Patrick Gleason, brings the iconic team back together for all-new adventures in the DC Universe.
Under the new imprint of Wonder Comics, Bendis is looking to bring teenage comics back in a big way so that comic books can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With Young Justice as well as Dial H For Hero as well as The Wonder Twins and a new book called Naomi, this one specifically being co-written by Bendis and a returning to DC Comics David F Walker.
Fans at the NYCC Bendis Spotlight Panel expressed concern about this new Young Justice Book. Some of the major concerns were is this going to be in continuity? Is the Robin Tim Drake and Why is he back as Robin? Does Connor’s return mean fans of Jonathan Kent are screwed? To all of these question, Bendis has said Tim Drake is going to transition back to being Robin, and “They’re all the characters from main continuity,” Bendis laughed. “These are main continuity, from-the-other-books characters. The main universe, main timeline characters.” With Conner’s return, Bendis assured this doesn’t mean Jonathan Kent, who currently holds the Superboy moniker, will be going away. “Jon’s story is unfolding in Superman and will be coming back in Superman #6 with a lot to work with. His story is a big one.”
Bendis has also said that the first arc of Young Justice will include the return of fan-favorite character Amethyst and Gem World, hopefully in a better state than she was in Futures End, with Gem World apparently invading Earth. Amethyst is said to be among the characters getting solo titles in the second wave of Wonder Comics books.
