Dad finds himself chained to a slave ship. After a wave hits at sea, they arrive on an island where we see some people armed to the teeth as if they were pirates and Honcho. A dude who rocks a tropical button up and in fact owns the island. Meanwhile, Bec and Ty can’t seem to get along with supplies starting to go scarce. Ty runs away to live with his friend that returned his knife.
This Issue
After a bit of roughing up, Honcho and Dad come to an understanding. Holding his head up and forcing him to watch, Honcho orders another one of the new arrivals beaten to a pulp in front of him. Viscera splattering all over his face. Meanwhile, Ty finds the congregation. A group of people using their faith in God to survive this apocalypse. Just as Ty settles in, a wave hits.
Thoughts
This issue really turned up the tension. Between the tangent of a father worried sick about his kids, to the rivalry of siblings causing rifts in a family dynamic. Even toss in the notion of how blind faith can be incredibly harmful, or incredibly fulfilling. The art absolutely lends to the increasing tension in this story.

Summary This issue is a lot of build-ups, but it doesn't feel like filler. The action hasn't yet reached a climax in the characters' journeys just yet. It's clear that the next issue will be more visceral than what we've seen so far. It would be wise to catch up now.
