The Exiles To Return In New Series By Saladin Ahmed!

With so many cancellations of low selling titles, Marvel Comics has announced the revival of one of their beloved team books. Originally created by Judd Winick, The Exiles was a series tackling the adventures of a team of Marvel characters, primarily X-men characters, from across the multiverse trying to correct the problems with time and space. Now Marvel seems to be attempting to strike gold again by revisiting a fan favorite title, with the breakout star of that original title Blink returning as the leader!

“The man once known as Nick Fury is now simply the Unseen, who can only observe Earth from the moon. When a mysterious threat casts its shadow on the multiverse, his job is to recruit champions who can save it. Blink’s goal was once to save the world with the original EXILES, and now, she’ll need the help of Khan, Iron Lad, Wolvie and a mysterious to-be-revealed team member to help her fight an even more sinister evil.”

“EXILES is a two-fisted, big-hearted wild ride of a book about a diverse team of alternate universe Marvel heroes banding together to stop a dire threat to the multiverse. Sort of WHAT IF? meets classic X-Men,” teases Ahmed. “Grizzled old Kamala Khan! Disgustingly cute cartoon Wolverine! It’s a dream of a book to be working on for a Marvel fanboy such as myself, full of deep-cut guest stars and mind-blowing easter eggs. But it’s also new-reader friendly — a self-contained story of a group of misfits coming together, learning to trust each other, and, if they’re lucky, saving the !@$# universe.”

Many have taken writer Saladin Ahmed’s comment of “a diverse team of alternate universe Marvel heroes” as just another attempt at what some call “SJW” Marvel to continue their push for diversity despite sales suggesting this is not what mainstream audiences desire, a “grizzled old” Ms Marvel adding to that misleading argument. Misleading in the fact that the exiles has always has a diverse pool of Marvel characters and wasn’t ever impacted by that diverse lineup. It was usually impacted in quality by different writter’s coming aboard after Winick left the book. From Thunderbird and a child of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch, to Sunfire, She-Hulk, A Spider-man/Carnage Hybrid, and of course Deadpool. So the possibilities of the ever changing roster on this team are endless regardless of their diverse nature. What matters with this title is if Ahmed can tell a compelling narrative with the basis of an revolving door roster.
