On the heels of the conclusion to the earth shaking Secret Empire event, Hawkeye is on the hunt. He is searching for Black Widow and thinks he is getting closer, but when is anything ever easy?

Summary:

Clint finds reason to believe his ex-girlfriend Black Widow to be alive following the conclusion of Secret Empire; he is following clues all over that point to her possibly being alive contrary to what happened in the previous story. As he closes in on a person of interest, things get more complicated when a familiar face appears. Even though Clint and his new “friend” aren’t on the best terms, they decide to ban together and unravel the mystery as it comes. A surprise at the end of the issue ends things on a grand scale for our newly formed team.

My thoughts:

The issue started well enough. Clint is his usual sarcastic self and his one liners are pretty hilarious. The art is okay, but as usual, I’m not a huge art guy so I can deal with it if the story is well written. Based on the overarching plot, this appears to be more of a spy thriller type of story and I’m okay with that. If that’s not your thing, you may not enjoy this run. For me, I’m right at home and like what they’ve done so far. I wasn’t blown away by any means, but it was a good start to get things up and running.

Summary
As I mentioned above it’s a pretty good start but not earth shattering at all. We’ll see where they take this story but it’s only a limited series of 5 issues. I expect the second issue to really hit the ground running since they only have a few more to tell the story. I’d still check this out especially if you’re a fan of Hawkeye.
