This is the heartbreaking origin story of Basil Karloff before he became one of Batman’s grotesque villains in his gallery… Clayface. Once an actor at the top of his career, Basil Karloff had an accident that turned his life upside down, one that made him become the monster he is now. Scars can be buried, but for how long? Please stay and learn how one of Hollywood’s upcoming actors on the cusp of fame and fortune loses it all here in the heart breaking reviews in Shoot the Breeze Comics.
What you need to know:
Basil Karloff was born and raised to be in the movies; his father was a horror movie actor who loved to show the audience movie magic, with his monster characters. He knew from a young age he wanted to be an actor and show the audience his true self. As years passed, he became one of Hollywood’s famous upcoming actors with his major motion pictures Metamorphosis and The Terror. As he set his sights to become something better—everyone loving him not just for his acting or looks, but for his heart—things took a horrendous spiral and all his dreams were lost.
What you’ll find out:
When Basil finally finds out that he got the the part he always wanted to play in the movie Second Sin, realizes that he can show his fans what he has been holding in his heart for so long. At last, the audience will fall in love with the monster that his father once told him that no one will ever love. He saw his future bright and ready for him to take the reins to stardom. Sadly, not all dreams come true. Getting a phone call that would change his life; Basil will never be the same again.
Disfigured, the once-beloved Basil sees his whole world crumble at his fingertips. Becoming angry with everyone on how he looks, he pushes everyone away and finds himself utterly alone for the first time in all his life. When a man loses everything and sees himself in the mirror and all he sees is a monster, he can fall into a dark hole where no one can be saved. Basil went into that dark hole, where a man will do terrible things, things that will truly make them a monster. He was experimenting on his face with movie magic molding clay, but as his supply began to run out, he took measures into his own hands to get more. That’s when the Dark Knight swooped in and stopped him, finally showing everyone what really happened to Basil Karloff’s face. Now at a crossroads, Basil was given a choice to become a better man and stop real criminals, but when a man is in that dark hole, his choices will be dark as well.
