“Democracy is overrated” (Marvel Two-In-One #2 Comic Review)

Writer: Chip Zdarsky

Penciler: Jim Cheung

Cover: Jim Cheung & Justin Ponsor

The Human Torch and the Thing continue their ongoing adventure as the “Fantastic Two”. After challenges to their collective resolve the duo decides to push forward and explore the great beyond as Reed Richards the head of the Fantastic would have wanted.

Recap:
After a brief conversation The Thing and Human Torch head out to start our issue. Ben is still struggling with the lie he told Storm during our last issue to get him to accompany him around. Unfortunately, he decides to continue the game he is currently playing. The two leave out finally and after some hilarious banter culminating in Johnny admitting germs are bunt off his body they arrive to their destination. They arrive at Monster Island a place where an earlier adventure started. They meet an old adversary sparking a physical confrontation. As Human Torch and Thing fight for their lives they’re interrupted by the arrival of Dr. Doom in his Infamous Iron Man persona. He saves them while being his usual arrogant self. After he leaves Ben tells a story about a small part of Reed and Doom’s rivalry. Though they were younger in college it was a snap shot of the brewing hostility between the two leading to a revelation of a inside joke between Reed and Ben. Said joke would be unfortunately at Dr. Dooms expense.

Opinion:
This series has been pretty consistent thus far to me and I’m hoping it continues to move at a good clip. I’m really excited for when Reed and Sue will be seen as well as the kids. Dr. Doom was funny as usual in his one and the look at Reed and Doom’s history was well done also. Its been great seeing the F4 back as I’ve waited for this for ahwhile now.

Summary
This series continues to impress me and I hope it continues in all honesty. I’ve always respected the F4 because of their place within the Marvel community and what they stand for…family. even if halved without all 4 there they still stand for that. They stand for Family. I’m very excited to see where they go from here. This series can only get better.
