Synopsis: “ANGRY BIRD” part two! The Penguin didn’t come to Brooklyn alone this time…he’s put out an open invitation for some of Gotham City’s villains to join him in building his new criminal empire, as long as they’re willing to hold off Harley Quinn! And when we say “worst,” we mean worst! Film Freak? Egghead? Condiment King? THE GORILLA GANG?!
What You You’ll Need To Know: Penguin has made a return to Coney Island in hopes for an expansion of all of NYC. He’s made his visit before and bullied everyone with his giant mutant Penguins INCLUDING Harley. The only way they got him out was with a bluff and Joker on their side. Not actually Joker though, a hologram. Harley is isolating her gang because she feels too much guilt and responsibility.
In This Issue: Harley hilariously trolls bad guys like the Gorilla Gang. It was a quick read that didn’t take much investment, but still entertaining to see the worst villains like ever to be involved. I feel like other comics like Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc. could not bring these villains in a good way (so bad it’s good) like a comic book as wacky as Harley Quinn could. It adds for good banter and adds to the plot of Angry Birds. She was almost taken down by King of The Gorilla Gang, but unbeknownst to her Redtool was the one who saved her. Harley Quinn really does need her friends. I hope to see more action with the more serious villains like Killer Croc and Penguin since they can do a lot more damage.
This sort of plot has been done before when Penguin was around, but maybe they can do more and make it better this time around. Is it enough to pick up the series as a whole though? Art was good, detailed along with good contrast in color.
