RECAP:

Although this storyline does not directly connect to the Angry Bird storyline, it does tie into the events of that series. Mostly you need to know that Harley battled Penguin over Coney Island and won.

IN THIS ISSUE:

We get a Mad Max intro complete with Harley strapped to the front of a car,  screwdriver face guard and all!  She doesn’t know where they are headed until they get there and Harley’s many exes are listed in a rather comical way. The point of all this has been to bring Harley back to Coney Island because, in her apparent 30-year absence, her former gang has split into different gangs and are coming to Coney Island for one last showdown, winner takes all.  Of course, Harley can’t let this go down without her involvement, which is what everyone was hoping for.

Summary
I didn't really know what to expect from this issue at first and was a little weary they would be spending a ridiculous amount of time, but this was a one and done issue that had a slightly slow beginning and then ended far too quickly. However, in the middle there were a few great references to both literature (Apocolypse Now, Independence Day, etc.) and what our other favorite characters have been up to (Nightwing and Harley got married?! And then divorced...Bruce Wayne the Third?!) Overall, I liked the story once it got going and felt they could have spent a little more time in this story. Everything happened a bit too easily and Harley hasn't changed at all in the thirty years they seemed to have skipped ahead.
Good
  • Appropriate Literary References
  • Witty Nicknames
  • Brilliant references to where other characters are now
Bad
  • Witty Nicknames
  • Slow beginning
  • over too quick
