In This Issue: Batgirl has realized that physically, she is still in the apartment of the domestic violence incident she was in a few nights ago. But mentally she is in the middle of boxing ring with mutant versions of her friend May and her opponent before Batgirl arrived. After some quick thinking, our girl obviously makes it out without a problem. But now she has to figure out how to break out of this prison in her mind before it starts creating a bigger labyrinth she might not be able to find a way out of. After a moment of clarity, she realizes the only way out of this perfect dream is to make it imperfect!
Juggling between a super hero’s real life and super hero life is never easy and it’s been done tons of times for different characters. With Larson’s beautiful writing, we are reminded of the true honesty of the situation these characters have to take. We also are reminded of what makes Batgirl a great character on her own. Strong, smart, humble and dedicated to everyone and everything in her life while still being determined to make things right. As the issue goes on, Barbara realizes that she needs to apply that same level of good will to herself, allowing herself to break through the routine she needs to.
