Ben and Johnny are still searching for their universe’s Reed and Sue along with Rachna Koul. She wanted to come along and in exchange for her help. In the alternate universe they’re in, Dr. Doom became Galactus to stop the regular version of the Devourer and then began eating the universe. He is now ready to consume Earth due to his hunger. In the meantime, our heroes went to Norrin aka the Silver Surfer for aid.
The issue starts with the Arrival of Dr Doom as Galactus to Earth. As I mentioned earlier he wants to consume the earth as he has eaten everything else in the universe. There’s a big attack on Doom from the (sorta) reunited Fantastic 4, regular Dr Doom, and other allies. Ben grows to Doom’s size and leads the assault. While fighting Doom, they’re attacked by Doombots and must engage them as well. The attacks from the Fantastic 4 and their allies seemed only empower the Devourer, so they rely on another play. They trick Doom to into assuming his Life-Bringer while one of their allies sacrifices herself. The Life-Bringer form is one we’ve seen from Galactus in other stories like the Ultimate’s for example. Afterwards the crew are at a grave where they share thoughts and Reed comes to what appears to be a startling revelation.
This was a pretty good issue. I enjoyed seeing the F4 fight Doom and Galactus at the same time as both are/were premier enemies of the group. Doom damn near stole the show this issue due to his actions which I won’t spoil as well as his usual condescending banter. He shows that he can do good things when he needs to. Also, his reflection at the grave was also a great read though brief.
