Previously:
Having a celebration of his own in light of his soon-to-be stepmother’s bachelorette party, Damien Wayne finds himself in an existential crisis concerning his future with his family. Amplified by the effects of a psychoactive compound, these questions hit a little closer to home when Ra’s al Ghul shows up to poke directly at his grandson’s insecurities. Instead of shaking his resolve, this pressure causes Damien to open up about his issues to Selina of all people.
Presently:
Damien and Selina can’t be the only ones having fun celebrating the occasion; Bruce needs a bachelor party as well! Who better to celebrate the Dark Knight’s bachelor party than the Man of Steel and the first Boy Wonder: Nightwing? And for once, things are going smoothly.
Not even skipping a beat, Hush shows up with a rocket launcher as soon as Superman is away. Nightwing jumps to the occasion and through some plot events in the story, ends up in an entirely different dimension with the villain where he must work with his mentor’s childhood. In this place, he finds himself wondering what he really means to Bruce and the Wayne family as a whole, finding himself slightly jealous of Bruce’s relationship with Clark. When he is returned to safety back home, he has a better understanding as to where his place is in the bat family.
Thoughts:
The second issue of this series keeps the momentum going with emotional grabs, sharp dialogue and artwork that feels like your own mental imagery when reading a novel. I am thoroughly enjoying where this story is going and even this young, it’s very well-thought out and planned for the main event. You can tell the amount of care this team is putting into making this and the wedding itself something more than memorable.
