Some spoilers for The Flash #48
Wally is reeling from the idea planted in his head by Hunter Zolomon that his children are trapped in the speed force. The only remedy presented by Zolomon? Break the Speed Force. And what does he need to do it? Barry Allen. Barry is of course not down for this nonsense as it makes for more questions than answers. Like what are the true consequences of breaking the Speed Force? Are his twin kids reachable? What the hell just happened to Iris and the Renegades?
It is in this issue where we find out the true plan of Hunter Zolomon aka Zoom all along. And let’s just say, Wally’s tinfoil hat is showing. The race/war (not to be confused with a race war) begins and Wally’s quest to break the Speed Force drags in heroes from the Justice League and the Titans. A lot of damage is being left in their wake. This damage and the blatant disregard for the other heroes shows how relentless and almost desperate Wally is. Wally the Elder uses Barry’s past mistakes as a means to justice his ends but the voice of reason couldn’t be louder. Let’s not break the Speed Force and potentially break all reality. I loved the eventual reveal by Zolomon and will amount to be a seriously suspenseful battle in the next issue.
There is a lot going on to say the least. Every panel in this issue represents pure unadulterated action on the part of each character, their feeling, and the scraps of debris left in the wake of the speedsters super-sprint. I am pretty much hooked now and want to see the outcome of this upcoming battle with Zoom given the revelations in this issue.
