Marvel Two-In-One #7: “The Thing and The Human Torch”
Writer: Chip Zdarsky
Artist: Ramon K. Perez
Letterer: VC’s Joe Caramagna
Colorist: Federico Blee
With their power levels continuing to dip, Johnny and Ben are weighing their options during their journey. They’ve encountered alternate versions of Doom, Sue, Reed, and other heroes, but are far away from home. What or who will they encounter next in their desperate attempt to find Reed and Sue?
We have the gang, including Dr Doom, proceeding on the next part of their adventure. As they enter a seemingly abandoned building, they are confronted by a widely known magic user who shuts down Doom’s magic capability. After being captured, they are banished to the Battleworld Arena where they’re to fight various creatures. Even while gradually losing their powers, our heroes put up a valiant effort. As they’re about to beat their opponents, one of them is recognized by Dr Koul Rachna who has came to tag along with the group.
Upon finding out her connection to one of their mystery opponents, they are understandably upset at the newest developments. Doom buys them sometime as they escape from the arena. Unfortunately for them, things get worse when they become…separated from the doctor. Our heroes are stuck at the end of the issue with nowhere to go.
This issue was okay. It didn’t seem as action-heavy as the last few. I think it peaked with the Doom/Galactus fusion. It was okay, but didn’t blow me away. The twist toward the end was actually pretty good, all things considered, and had me wanting more. I guess I’ll just have to wait for the next issue. Doom, as usual, is the standout and basically anything he says is gold. This makes me want more solo Doom stuff based on the shots he consistently tosses at the Human Torch and Thing.
