While the focus of DC’s Justice League panel centered on the “New Justice” titles, Scott Snyder also announced to an excited San Diego Comic-Con audience that he’s revisiting the Dark Knights: Metal event. The reason being is to focus on one of the most popular characters of that event, The Batman Who Laughs. Snyder will be pitting Batman against the Jokerized version of himself in a new six issue miniseries.
The miniseries is scheduled to begin in November. According to Snyder, Batman and The Batman Who Laughs are 2 of his favorite characters to write. Snyder informed the crowd that he has also been looking forward to writing this series. According to a DC press release announcing the miniseries, “This six-issue miniseries pits Batman against the culmination of all his fears from the Dark Multiverse, an evil amalgamation of himself and his greatest nemesis, The Joker.”
Dark Knights: Metal took the DC Universe’s heroes on a wild ride against a horde of Dark Batmans. I’m curious to see what Scott Snyder has up his sleeve as a continuation of this story. The Batman Who Laughs is one of the most twisted characters to appear in comics in some time and it’ll be fun to see him pitted against The World’s Greatest Detective again. From the looks of some of the art attached to the press release from DC, it looks like Batman is playing for keeps in this rematch.
