*NEWS FLASH* James Gunn fired from Disney over controversial tweets. *Explicit Content*

The news broke today, from multiple sources, that Disney has severed ties with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn over a horde of controversial tweets.

The tweets in question number into the hundreds and contain “jokes” made for “shock value,” but they seem to contain similar themes through including child molestation and rape.

The tweets were deleted early this morning but Twitter and Reddit user screen capped and compiled them. Again, the tweets number into the hundreds so these are just a few to give you an idea.

Again, these are just a few examples of hundreds.

Many have noted that is what Right Wing pundits that seemed to lead the charge against him: “Fox News got its ammo from The Daily Caller, One America News Network correspondent Jack Posobiec, and right-wing commentator Mike Cernovich, and apparently these conservative outlets pounced on old social media after Gunn mocked conservative pundit Ben Shapiro, as he defended liberal actor Mark Duplass after he came under fire and apologized for encouraging his followers to give Shapiro a chance, in the name of hearing views from the other side of the aisle. That is nothing compared to some of the tweets unearthed by Cernovich, which included suggestions that readers email Disney, to complete the takedown.” Via Deadline.

Soon after Gunn released an apology on Twitter and later deleted the tweets:

1. Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
2. It’s not to say I’m better, but I am very, very different than I was a few years ago; today I try to root my work in love and connection and less in anger. My days saying something just because it’s shocking and trying to get a reaction are over.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
4. For the record, when I made these shocking jokes, I wasn’t living them out. I know this is a weird statement to make, and seems obvious, but, still, here I am, saying it.

— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) July 20, 2018
5. Anyway, that’s the completely honest truth: I used to make a lot of offensive jokes. I don’t anymore. I don’t blame my past self for this, but I like myself more and feel like a more full human being and creator today. Love you to you all.

The controversy surrounding the tweets and firing has sparked heated debates across the internet. Did he need to be fired? Was his apology enough? Is this targeted harassment? We may never truly know. What is left in the air is the future of the previously announced Guardians of The Galaxy Vo. 3, as well as a recently announced Starksy and Hutch revival? Who will Disney and apparently Sony tap to helm these project especially when Gunn is what made  Guardians what is was? Stay tuned to Shoot The Breeze Comics for the latest as it develops.
