DC Comics’ New Age of Heroes has made a big impact on the publisher, and DC is trying to expand the exposure of these characters. One place DC is trying to introduce these characters is The CW’s Arrowverse. For Season 7 of Arrow, The CW is looking to The New Age of Heroes to cast its villain.
Per CBR, “The CW announced today at Comic-Con International that Silencer will be joining the cast of Arrow as a member of the previously teased team of Longbow Hunters, a trio of villains described as ‘more lethal than any the team has faced.'” This new character, “along with Red Dart and Kodiak, will gather at the behest of Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) in an attempt by Season 6’s big villain to take out Oliver Queen and his team once and for all.” Silencer will be played by Miranda Edwards.
Silencer’s is characterized in the comics as “a retired assassin, known not only for her abilities as one of the most deadly people in the DC Universe.” Silencer is also described as “a top-ranking member of the League of Assassins who had the ability to literally silence all sounds in her immediate area, thus allowing her to kill whomever she was tasked with taking out without raising suspicion in anyone who might be nearby.”
Hopefully Silencer can inject some new life into an Arrowverse that has at times gotten stale on The CW. It is evident that DC is making an effort to push the new characters they created. Will we see other characters from the New Age of Heroes in the other Arrowverse shows? If I was a betting man, I’d put my money on yes. Arrow returns this fall on The CW.
