What you need to know:
The Original X-men set out to save Magneto from himself by trying to help Emma Frost, however after he tore through the Hellfire clubs before arriving on her doorstep to finish the job he started.
What just Happened:
This issue opens with a glimpse into the past when the O5 were stopping Magneto from using the missile at Cape Verde showing us the similarities from the past and now in the present. Magneto is not interested in the safety of innocent bystanders…He wants to rip the White Queen who is being shielded by Bobby limb from limb.
The original X-men attempt to reason with Magneto but it is like the Magneto of old filled with rage, anger and only out for revenge. This young team…Even though they are taking a battering, use their special gifts to take on the drugged up master of magnetism. Are they up to the task to triumph over their old enemy…or in their case new enemy or does he succeed in destroying the White Queen?
Without spoiling it, there is a fierce battle in this dangerous game of chess as the pieces move across the board, checkmate?
The art made me feel like I was watching an episode of Scooby Doo but the emotions of the characters were captured brilliantly.
There were some fantastic moments for the various characters as their many pent up issues were freed from their cages. This is a great cast however the usual issues come up again and again – Blood Storm under used, Jean Grey overused…there is no balance with the cast however some of the other characters did get some screen time.
