Kara Zor-El returns in an all-new galactic adventure that puts her on the hunt for information about Rogol Zaar.
Using whatever tech she can scrounge, Supergirl builds a star cruiser, she blasts off into the cosmos to solve the mystery.

After the events of Bendis’ Man of Steel story arc, Kara is angry. Very angry. The fight with Rogol Zaar has left Kara feeling depressed and helpless. She makes the decision to leave and hunt down information about Rogol Zaar and determine if he was actually responsible for the destruction of Krypton.

Clark tried to talk her out of it, but she snaps and explains that Krypton is merely theoretical for him and how she lived on Krypton, she lost friends and family, and her life there. Clark relents and lets ’s Kara go to Hal Jordan. Kara asks Hal to scan Zaar’s ax for information. But that ends up going a little haywire.

From there Kara collects salvage and builds herself a ship to explore the galaxy, but Clark has sent along someone to go with her.

Who could it be?

Good Golly, Miss Molly. This issue is pretty damn fantastic. One of the big reasons why I liked Kara’s New 52 book was the fact we got to see Kara be angry over the destruction of Krypton. Her home was destroyed, her family and friends died, and she was hurt and angry. I feel that reaction is an understandable makes sense and helps shapes her personality. She needs closure and I’m excited to see where this journey takes her.

Andreyko has a great script here. He’s setting up a really exciting journey for Kara. I really hope he can balance fun space battles and Kara’s need for closure. I believe he can do it, but (as with all things) caution. God, I love Maguire. His art is just absolute perfection. If I had to pick anyone to do the art for this book it would be Kevin Maguire. I am really excited to see where this book goes.

Supergirl #21 spirals out of Man of Steel's story, but Andreyko sets up a plan to make it uniquely Kara's story as opposed to an offshoot of Clarks. Absolutely worth picking up.
  • Maguire's art is out of this world.
  • Andreyko sets up the potential for an amazing journey for Kara
  • Any story with Krypto is a plus.
  • Still not crazy about this Rogol Zaar thing.
