Marvel Comics has announed that The Hero of Harlem, Luke Cage, joins Cloak and Dagger and Jessica Jones in Marvel’s DIGITAL ORIGINALS. These double-sized comics have been the flagships of Marvel’s new digital line, which are a collection of original stories in a digital format. And issue 1 is on sale now!
Luke Cage boasts an impressive creative team. Writer Anthony Del Col is joined by artists Jahnoy Lindsay and Ian Herring, and covers for the Hero of Harlem are being provided by Declan Shavey and Jordie Bellaire.
When Harlem faces a heatwave, they turn to their hero, but it seems that Luke has his hands full between the heat, and the ultra rich 1% dropping dead from a mysterious illness. Luke leaps into the fray to protect the people targeted by this mysterious killer, only to discover a “shocking” diagnosis himself.
The series has started already, with issue #1 available for digital download. Series editor Alanna Smith has called this series “Hitchcock-style noir” and promises a “high-tension, bingeable story.” The entire run is expected to take 3 months to complete and the trade will drop shortly after.
