WHAT JUST HAPPENED: Our regular Squad has run away momentarily to make an appearance in the Aquaman series! You’ll definitely want to check out Suicide Squad #45 as well as Aquaman #39 to follow that adventure!
THIS WEEK: While our favorites are over in Atlantis, Amanda Waller has another problem on her hands. An escapee from Belle Reve is wreaking havoc in the swamps of Louisiana and she assembles a new crew to bring them in.
The new crew is comprised of: Merlyn, Scream Queen, Shimmer, Tad Jones, Skorpio, Rag Doll and Baby Boom…They set off to see if they have what it takes to be a member of the Squad.
While on the run, Cadence Laramie runs into Swamp Thing who immediately sees her distress and tries to help her. Unfortunately, the new Squad wasn’t far behind and they begin to threaten both Swamp
Thing and Cadence. Waller sees Swamp Thing and suddenly has an idea to add a new member to her collection at Belle Reve and informs the Squad to bring in both him and Cadence Laramie.
Unfortunately for Waller, Swamp Thing has no intentions of leaving his swamp or of letting them take Cadence. What none of them realize is that Cadence isn’t alone. The souls of those Dennis Gaines killed are haunting her and tearing apart those they feel are responsible.
Will Waller get her people? Will Cadence survive? Check out the latest issue of Suicide Squad to find out.
ABOUT THE ART: This issue was particularly violent and gruesome, which can go several ways, in my opinion. But I feel that it is well done in this issue and that it really hits the message home…Same with the panels showing Swamp Thing. He is such a unique character and having different variations of him is always wonderful to see.
