*NEWS FLASH* Joker Star Joaquin Phoenix Says he Doesn’t Care About What the Fans Think of his Role in the Upcoming Movie

The Joker is one of the most, if not THE most popular villain in all of comic book history.  So it is no surprise that fans are nervous about a movie being made about the origin of this popular character.  Fans are especially nervous because of the mixed reaction Jared Leto’s portrayal of The Joker received in “Suicide Squad”.  There is also confusion surrounding the other movies DC and Warner Brothers have announced involving The Joker, a Jared Leto starring solo movie, and a Joker and Harley Quinn movie.

Joaquin Phoenix, star of the upcoming Joker origin movie, is not worried about fan concerns.  Phoenix told IndieWire, “I could care less.  I don’t really think that much about what people think.  Who cares, who cares?  My approach to every movie is the same.  What I’m interested in is the filmmaker and the idea of the character.”  The actor elaborated by saying “If there’s something that feels unique, then I don’t really care what genre it is, what budget it is.  Those things aren’t important.  What gets my interest is examining people.  Some of it is really f—ing simple.  It’s chemistry, it’s like what you look for in a lover.  You know it when it happens.”  Newsarama reports that Phoenix is already preparing for the role ahead of the beginning of filming scheduled for September 2018.

Most fans don’t have a problem with Joaquin Phoenix portraying The Joker per se, they are more concerned with DC and Warner Brothers’ strategy towards making movies.  They shoehorned the character into “Suicide Squad” and marketed him as a big part of the movie, while in reality he was barely in the film.  Following the film, 3 additional movies starring the character were announced without rhyme or reason.  There is a lot of talent behind this Joker origin movie, making it a promising film that has a lot of potential.  DC and WB however, have yet to prove to fans they can consistently make quality films, leading to films such as the Joker origin movie receiving scrutiny.
