The end of the World As we Know it (The Seeds #2 Comic Review)

REVIEW NO SPOILERS

Title: the seeds (book 2)
Writer: Ann Nocenti
Art: David Aja

IN THIS ISSUE:

So the world ended. A lone compound exists where no tech is allowed, but you can buy your way in. A couple thousand dollars to sneak in your tech, and get a good look at what’s going on out here. This issue follows one girl leaving the compound, and one coming in. What they each find in the middle of nowhere is a revelation that alters their lives.

THOUGHTS:

David Aja shared this on social media. Love it.

David Aja is at the top of his game with the art. The black and white presentation of this series is striking and compliments Aja’s strongest points. Anne Nocenti is a powerhouse. The writing is crisp and bleak and powerful. This comic is like if you took the show Millennium or even the darker episodes of X-Files, and gave it a knife. It’s a gut-punch, dystopian without bringing in the exact modern-day politics we’ve been facing. My only criticism is that it’s a 4-part story and I’m so hooked that I don’t want it to end, but I can see why this is going to be short and sweet without the sweet part. The dual POV ties in nicely together, and I am going to have the hardest time waiting for where this goes next month. This is definitely a story I will read over again.
