*News Flash* Brie Larson SOARS in the First Trailer to Captain Marvel!

The time has FINALLY arrived! Marvel Entertainment has released the first trailer to next year’s March 8th release of Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island, The Gambler), Samuel L Jackson (The Incredibles 2, Kong: Skull Island), Jude Law (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Hugo) and Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians, Sherlock)!

The long-awaited Marvel Cinematic Universe entry is directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (The Big C, It’s Kind of a Funny Story),  will be set in the 1990’s, and sees Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) teaming up with a pre-eyepatch Nick Fury (Jackson) and Walter Lawson (Jude Law) to stop a war between two alien races, the Kree (previously seen in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy), and the MCU debut of the shapeshifting Skrulls. As the film’s set in the past, several characters who died in previous MCU entries are returning for this film, including Lee Pace’s Ronan, Djimon Hounsou’s Korath, and Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson.

More specific plot details are not known at this point, but from the trailer, it appears Carol crashes down on Earth, suffering amnesia, so presumably her lost memories will play a part in the film’s narrative. Several recognizable aspect’s of Captain Marvel from the comics have made their way into the film, including Carol’s time as a fighter pilot, and the collapsible helmet around her suit, and the film’s tag-line, “Higher Further Faster” is in reference to the title of the first tpb of Kelly-Sue DeConnick & David Lopez’s run on Captain Marvel, “Higher Further Faster More”.

We’ll learn more in the coming months, and when the film hits theaters, next spring!
