In this Issue:

Shadow and Mr Wednesday find themselves being chased by police led by Mr. Town, a mysterious “man in black” figure. To escape, Mr. Wednesday takes Shadow “behind the scenes”, an alternate dimension that mirrors Earth-reality. They make it to their meeting, greeted by a couple of friends on Lakota territory. Whiskey Jack asks about Shadow’s dreams while Shadow busily tries to work through the storm in his mind, coming to terms with a bunch of unsavory emotions and looking for clarity.

Thoughts:

This issue is a deep dive into Native American mythology. Mr. Wednesday is as unlikable as ever, all the while being charming. We get a good look at him as his alter ego during the “behind the scenes” jaunt. Mythology and magic play a big role in this issue and I appreciate every little thread they weave in.

Summary
Definitely look into starting this series from the beginning if you haven't. It's a wild romp through mythology and it captures the essence of the original book incredibly well. The careful thought put into the mythology in each issue is worth every thread when the payoff slaps you in the face. This is Gaiman at his finest. All in all, a solid book. Maybe not the strongest in the series thus far, but a dang good read,.
Good
  • Deep Dive into mythology
  • Great for fans of the series, or the book
  • Mr Wednesday is a scamp
Bad
  • Not a good jumping on point.
