DC’s Black Label comics have come under fire for having a shot of full frontal nudity. The newest label, meant for mature readers, has been criticized on social media platforms for showing Batman’s junk.
The flagship title, Batman: Damned #1 by writer Brian Azzarello and artist Lee Bermejo, features a shot of Bruce Wayne’s penis. This has stoked much conversation across social media and has prompted DC to alter the art.
Print editions have already hit shelves with the unaltered art, but digital releases are being censored. Bruce’s manhood will be fully obscured by shadows in digital editions, and all future print runs.
IGN broke the news earlier with a source saying:
DC chose to alter the art because it wasn’t additive to the story. The first print run currently on sale in shops still features the unaltered art, but all future printings of Batman: Damned will reflect the altered artwork, the source also said.
Below is a censored-for-nudity-by-our-editors version of the panel in question, Dick jokes aside.
