“It’s a sisters-vs.-sisters showdown as Laura must battle through the Cuckoos’ powerful mind projections to rescue Gabby. Will Gabby be able to resist their psychic shackles, or will she turn against Laura too?”
What You Need to Know:
Stepford Cuckoos have a reputation for being nefarious and questionable. Their loyalty only lies within each other and it’s the against the world. They were originally the 5 in 1—now the 4 in 1—but their time is limited with their sister withering away. They first kidnapped geneticist Dr. Marks to find a way to save their sister. They seemed to find a way because kidnapping Gabby was part of their plan too; the plan was to transfer Esme’s consciousness into Gabby’s body. When we left off last issue, they had already flipped the switch!
In This Issue:
So, they began the process of basically switching Esme’s mind into Gabby’s body. Laura stunted some of the process, but was it effective? Half her body was literally fried in the process and “Esme” announces that she is back. Mindee was sent out to look for Laura even though she seemingly died. They should know better than anyone that it takes way more than an explosion to kill X-23. Mindee seems to be more annoyed than threatened by Laura because she is treated more like a lackey than one of the powerful telepaths.
Meanwhile, Esme is loving being in Gabby’s body since she has her healing factor and is practically invincible. However, the sisters aren’t as powerful as they think if they are not literally 4 in 1. Mindee is not totally on board with that. We also discover than Mindee is also in Laura’s head and is even threatened by her plot.
