The Daisy Would Impel Me [Wolverine the Long Night Review #4]

Logan, Mallory and the Strawberry Kids are blowing things up. There’s an underground drug operation running through town that Logan & co are trying to stop. Marshall and Pierce are trying to get to the bottom of the “bear” attacks going through town, especially since they have a live victim in the hospital. She can’t talk yet, but they are determined!

Lightbulbs have been taken from homes in Burns, AK. Overnight, the lightbulbs have been taken by the Aurora cult. “The long night is coming” a note left by them states. The beginning of each episode and the throw back to the Aurora cult makes me wonder how involved they are to the over arching story.

Marshall goes to the taxidermist that works with the Langrocks. As Marshall is trying to get information, Hudson Langrock comes in and tensions rise. Hudson’s voice is so creepy, it just sends a shiver down my spine. He brings in one of Mr. Langrock’s golden retrievers that was found dead on their property.

Still on the trail, Pierce goes back to the hospital to get information on drug use. The doctor has some interesting things to say once pressed. It turns out Bobby was in the hospital with a drug overdose then not two months later he’s a deputy. Turns out Bobby had a few skeletons in his closet and now he wants in on the drug trade the cops are involved in. What’s his end game?

The librarian is creepy. SO CREEPY! And has so many cats…Which just adds another level of creepy. Pierce is looking at the old geological survey maps. The cats are freaking out a little about Pierce, which makes me wonder what her deal is too. She asks the librarian about an old legend because there’s a story about a shadow creature that will kill anyone who tries to harm the woods. She takes a trip into the woods again and finds a horrific scene. A building on fire, men dead with three scratch marks across them, two words spelled in their blood: ‘You’re Next’.

Meanwhile, Marshall has been scanning the hospital surveillance records and comes across Dinah Moses’ brother a few months back. Logan comes in to the room and starts talking about how he’s just there to make sure Sherman, Dinah’s brother, is alive because Logan saved him from a pack of wolves.

Logan explains that he doesn’t remember a lot, and what he does remember he doesn’t want to. He recounts mission after mission of him slaughtering people. He is determined to do good, now…To save people instead of killing them, but in his own way. Marshall visits Sherman to get more information on his interactions with Logan. The odds of it being a one time thing are slim.

Bobby has gone missing. The sheriff can’t find him.

Pierce interviews one of Brett Langrock’s ex-girlfriends. She comes forward now because Brett is being praised as a hero, but she’s certain he’s not all he seems. Turns out, the girls that were attacked are also Brett’s ex-girlfriends. She’s worried she could be next.

Marshall and Pierce discuss Logan and determine he is not the “bear” that seems to be attacking people. They go back to the cave Pierce found and find an alter of bones. Pierce mentions the legends she studied that if you offered a sacrifice on the alter, you became part of the spirit. The real question: who has been dabbling in the darkness?

The agents bring the sheriff up to the cave. Bobby is still missing. The body found in the cave is a headless female and Pierce tells the sheriff that he shouldn’t be blaming bears anymore…Could it be Brett? He has a tendency to like non traditional weapons. Pierce wonders if he has become something supernatural. Marshall thinks that is crazy, which I find ironic since they know exactly who Logan is.

Sherman lets Marshall know there’s a few more names to add to the list of victims that just haven’t been talked about. Logan made Sherman promise not to talk about it and we’re beginning to see that Logan is a bit more involved than we may have previously thought.

While driving back to their hotel, Pierce hits a Strawberry Kid with her car and they end up finding out a little bit more about the “monster” man because the Strawberry Kids had information on the killings. They also make mention that Brett Langrock is dead.

The answers are starting to come in slowly, but we're starting to get a better picture of what's going on! Logan has a whole following that we are starting to see more clearly. I'm curious what his end game is, and I'm excited to see how this all plays out!
  • Finally, more Logan!!
  • Questions are starting to be answered!
  • I kind of want Pierce to disappear.
