Synopsis: Everything changed for the Red Hood last few issues. Devoid of partners and exiled from Gotham City, Jason gets a fateful message from the last person he expected to see again. The news he learns leaves him with no choice but to don the Red Hood mask once more and double down on his two-fisted crimefighting approach. Pray for whoever gets in Jason’s way as “The Outlaw” kicks into high gear.
What You’ll Need To Know: Jason has pretty much lost everyone he knew and cared for. All his family. We lost a lot of heroes in Heroes in Crisis. He is now a nomad vigilante trying to take down The Underlife. He had some help from his ex-partner and bestest friend, Arsenal(Roy Harper). Roy has been battling with addiction for a while but hasn’t dealt with his problems since Jason needed his help after Batman beat the crap out of him for shooting Penguin. That night has changed his life since he also lost the rest of his team, Artemis and Bizarro.
In This Issue: This issue has me in my feels. Starts out pretty normal, Jason is tracking down more baddies and trying to take down The Underlife. He is back to being ruthless with his enemies, he doesn’t have to live by Batman’s rules anymore. He can be a real Outlaw on his own. He decides to try contacting his buddy, Arsenal, expecting not to hear from him because of rehab. Whatever he can hear from him later after he confronts a member of The Underlife and gets answers. That turns into a grizzly diner-fight. He does get a very surprising visit from Batman, last time they saw each other, they were in a very brutal fight. That’s like the worst Batman has ever beat someone. That’s like his son! Anyways, Bruce was not there to fight. He was there to drop the news. First, Penguin didn’t actually die surprise, surprise. Second, Roy Harper has been killed, if you read Heroes In Crisis, you already know. Bruce offers a shoulder to cry on, no matter how upset he was at him. He says he is still there for him. (But also says he can’t come to Gotham? Decide Bruce). Jason will be able to grieve and process when he is in this cute little town, even though he’s still on the job. And now, he will be seeking revenge.
