What You Need to Know: Since being bitten by a Radioactive Spider, Gwen Stacy has received powers of her own and was transformed into the hero: Spider “Woman” . . . or as we lovingly call her “Spider Gwen” She has fought, superspy’s, ninjas, mad scientists, government agents and traversed different dimensions before finally landing in jail for a while! But now that she is out, she has decided that when there is danger on the streets, “Ghost Spider” will be there to save the day
In This Issue: We pick up right where we left off as Gwen is now out of jail for serving her time as a vigilante. After all, every world has to have a Spider Hero of its own to protect it, and Earth-65 has Gwen. Not to mention that the people she is saving seem much happier now that she is back on the streets. But no peace can ever last long and soon an old friend comes knocking on her dimension, and right in the middle of her dinner! But duty calls and she and Spider-Ham are off to try to stop the possibility of the Inheritors returning. During the fight, Gwen is thrown into an unknown dimension without her Dimension watch and has to figure out what to do. Thankfully, if there is one thing Gwen has learned, there is always a Tony Stark, Reed Richards, or in this case, an Osborn around to help. But instead of a prospering Factory, Gwen finds the building almost run down to nothing. But it’s not abandoned as she is attacked by woman Hobgoblin! Even though she is able to escape, she remembers that this world, like others, has at least one Peter Parker.
Since debuting, Gwen has become a huge favorite in the Spider-Verse so to see her leave back in July was a stab in the heart. But thanks’ in part to her popularity and the fact she is about to be in the new Spiderversecartoon movie AND Marvel Risingcartoon, well you can’t keep a good spider down! And that is just what is happening here when we see Gwen now accepting her role as a vigilante and honestly, it’s refreshing. For the longest time she struggled to find herself and separate Gwen from Spider-Woman but now, she knows who she is and what she has to do. Even when faced with old and new enemies. Obviously, if you didn’t read the Spiderverseseries that Gwen was basically introduced to, and now the Spider-Geddonseries that continues that, you might be a bit lost at first. Thankfully, they don’t get into the main story enough to keep you confused and throw in just enough information that you can kind of figure out what’s going on. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go pick up Spider-Geddonregardless. This is a nice way to jump right back into a new chapter for Gwen and the reader, and don’t worry, Gwen has that pesky Symbiote under control to help.
