Summary:

While on a date with Mary-Jane, Peter gets an unexpected call from the one and only Tony Stark, with urgent news: a massive, impossible heist has occurred, affecting a large number of superheroes. With no choice but to swing into action, Peter sets out to try to find who, or what could be behind all of this. Has the heist affected him, too? And what is the Thieves Guild?

Thoughts:

After the fun and heartfelt Trivial Pursuit two-parter, this new storyline starts off with an exciting bang, earning major investment from me. Once again, Nick Spencer does a great job with setting up a story, lining up the domino pieces, and knowing how they’re all gonna knock down. Humberto Ramos once again does an excellent job illustrating, and that cover is something utterly gorgeous.

I’m very satisfied that we’ve finally gotten more MJ content, as the Trivial Pursuit issues were definitely lacking in that department. We get more insight into what she’s going through, finding out more about what she wants to do with her life, paving the way for some good character development in the future. Her relationship with Peter is forever going to be adorable, and I will forever thank Marvel and Nick Spencer for allowing them to get back together.

While I won’t spoil the details of the heist that occurs, it’s incredibly fascinating and intriguing, and I can’t wait to see exactly how it was done, and to what end. The cliffhanger sets up something really exciting (and far overdue) for the next issue, and the next two weeks can’t go by fast enough!

Overall, aside from some minor pacing issues, this is an incredibly strong start to this next story, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next. Each of Spencer’s issues have been golden so far, and hopefully, that winning streak will continue for a very long time!
