After the amazing announcements as of late with Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead joining as Black Canary and Huntress respectively, it seems a new one has arrived. With the recent announcement of Birds of Prey being a rated R film, we have now gained the information of who the famous women superhero team will be facing.

In a report by Deadline, it has been announced that Star Wars and recent Christopher Robin lead Ewan McGregor has taken up the role of Roman Sionis also known as Black Mask. A Mob boss controlling the majority of Gotham’s underworld, Sionis became a force worthy of even Batman’s attention. Making iconic appearances in other DC media such at Batman: Under the Red Hood, and Batman Arkham Origins.

Will DC skip Sionis’s origins of him rising from business man to crime lord who carves a mask from his own fathers grave? And will they make McGregor a villain that is worth keeping around in this new age of DC films? Only time will tell. What do you think of this announcement? Let us know in the comments!
