Marvel promised that they would make the X-Men matter in their universe again and so far they are showing they plan on keeping that promise. Marvel has now relaunched the Uncanny X-Men, are preparing to relaunch Wolverine, and has X-Men Red and Domino among other X-Men related books currently ongoing. In regards to the the new Uncanny X-Men title, Marvel has already teased the return of X-Man. It seems the return of Nate Grey will be bigger than we anticipated as Marvel has announced the “Age of X-Man” starting in February 2019.
In a press release from November 16th, Marvel describes this apparent “Age of Apocalypse” influenced event, “Coming February 2019, the AGE OF X-MAN dawns, and the X-Men cannot stop it. After the apocalyptic dissolution of the X-Men comes…AGE OF X-MAN!” Marvel announced the creative teams and promotional art for the titles, covers, and creative teams for the miniseries making up this event.

A couple of observations: Marvel must think going back to the well once again will spark more interest in the X-Men. Remember Age of X? Similar concept on a smaller scale with even less impact. These miniseries look interesting however, with Storm going what looks like full Dora Milajae, One-armed bearded Colossus, and even more bad-ass looking X-23. Nightcrawler seems to embrace his swashbuckling reputation in this timeline. Psylocke, Blob, possibly Jubilee and others look to be a security force of some sort. I personally am interested in the psychedelic vibes I’m getting from Apocalypse, Dazzler, Mini-Apocalypse and the X-Tracts. And of course it wouldn’t be an alternate timeline without Bishop’s tortured soul. Man that guy can’t catch a break. At least he has Beast, Polaris, and Blink joining him. We’ll see if Age of X-Man is able to garner the same amount of attention critical acclaim as other classic X-Men stories.
