After being deceived by Daredevil and taken into the custody the Punisher has his back against the wall quite literally. At the end of the last issue, he was arrested only to find out one of the guards who accosted him at the end of the issue was his arch nemesis Jigsaw. Jigsaw is yet again trying to kill the Punisher and has a lot of help right now. Will he succeed this time? Time will tell…
We start with Frank behind bars and figuring out Jigsaw is among the Guards trying to take custody of him. Frank obviously feels with Jigsaw there the whole thing stink and is correct. Nick Fury is among the group demanding Frank be released to them. Fury wouldn’t normally work with Jigsaw which once that is found out the guards attack the station. The person dressed as Fury reveals himself as someone we haven’t personally seen in a while. Frank is able to get a gun leading to an intense firefight between the Punisher and Jigsaw plus his forces in the jail. Frank is able to hold his own though he gets hit. He is able to escape but runs into another hero who questions him about the earlier breakout. Unfortunately, good police officers were killed before and during the firefight and Frank is getting blame through the media. Frank regroups, recoups, and infiltrates another HYDRA meeting where he attacks a speaker who is communicating with Zemo. The speaker who was formerly allied with the older Mandarin is able to protect himself from Frank with a ring from his associate.
This issue was literally perfect to me. The only thing I hate about this these books as of late is the end when it REALLY gets good. The firefights, the dialogue, the art, everything just stood out to me. I’m sorry about my pro Punisher bias but I believe anyone who is a fan NEEDS to be reading this arc right now. If you’re catching up this is a great arc after War Machine.
