I just wanted a little celebration (The Punisher # 5 Comic Review)

Punisher #5

Writer: Matthew Rosenberg

Artist: Szymon Kudranski

Cover: Greg Smallwood

Letterer: VC’s Cory Petit

Colorist: Antonio Fabela

Having escaped Jigsaw and his kill squad, Frank has ramped up his one-man offensive against HYDRA. His goal is the same, to dismantle the organization from the bottom up. Unfortunately for him Winslow a comrade of the Mandarin stands in his way. Winslow isn’t particularly happy that The Punisher killed his master earlier in the story and is trying to enact a ver painful revenge. In addition to that others, are patiently waiting for their turn to settle up with Frank…I guess they can get in line then…

Recap:
This one starts where the last explosive issue left off with the fight between Frank and Winslow. As I mentioned earlier, Winslow wants to kill Frank for killing the Mandarin in an earlier issue. To help him in his cause he actually has a few of the Mandarin’s rings on his person. They fight but due to a lot of talking instead of outright killing Frank he is able to take advantage and kill Winslow. After that he is back on the hunt putting the squeeze as they say to numerous HYDRA contacts with the goal of finding Baron Zemo’s current whereabouts. Frank next destination is figured out by Fury who meets him there with a few heroes who have scores to settle. They jump Frank who surprisingly holds his own versus 4 others. He tries to flee thinking the coast is clear but is then brought down with a nonlethal round and then taken into custody. After a prison transfer Frank is now in the custody of the man he was hunting the whole time…..Zemo.

Opinion:
This issue was fantastic imo. I love this new art style and the action was good all around. The Punisher put a lot of work in in this issue. I enjoyed the cameos too since they put up a decent fight against Frank.

Summary
So now we’re going to Zemo’s turf. Frank has set the pace in his hunt and has basically been in control the whole time. That’s about to stop now with him being in custody. I’m sure some more not so nice things are in store for Frank too. Good time to jump in and catch up before the setting switches officially. This is one of my favorite Marvel Books out right now.
