A Conclusion of Rogue and Gambit’s Honeymoon (Mr. and Mrs. X #5 Comic Review)

Mr. and Mrs. X #5-Love and Marriage Part 5 of 5

Writer: Kelly Thompson

Artist: Oscar Bazaldua

Colorist: Frank D’Armata

Letters: Joe Sabino

Cover: Terry and Rachel Dodson

Synopsis: Gambit and Rogue’s honeymoon/mission has been crashed by the likes of Deadpool, the Imperial Guard, the Technet, Deathbird, Shi’ar rebels…and now the Starjammers! Best honeymoon ever?

What You’ll Need To Know: Newlyweds Rogue and Gambit have not been able to enjoy their honeymoon. They’ve just been kidnapped and have to rescue Xandra, the daughter of Lilandra and Charles Xavier, she is wanted by The Imperial Guard, and her own aunt is willing to kill her. They are bombarded, close to losing a fight when a blast seems to make Rogue and Xandra disappear, even with the help of The Starjammers. Did it blow them up?

In This Issue: We start the issue with a shocked and confused Gambit, as he just saw his love and Xandra vanish in thin air. Cerise is crying, and she knows more about The Imperial Guard weaponry, does she have a real REAL reason to believe they are truly gone? Luckily, that wasn’t the case. Xandra and Rogue combined powers to make it appear as they did disappear, to throw off The Imperial Guard, so they could be safe and have them off their tale. Luckily, that plan did work but did manage to freak out Gambit and Cerise. They thought their loved ones were destroyed, Cerise was happy to find out that was the case, Gambit was not so much. She made a risky decision and didn’t consult Gambit, and scared the crap out of him. I’m on Rogue’s side, all The X-Men have to make quick decisions for the good of the team, as scary as may be!  They’ll all had death scares, but no one got hurt. Seriously hurt that is. This high-stress situation has triggered something new though. Rogue is absorbing everyone’s memories, without even touching them, and this is draining! Luckily, they have those handy collars to suppress powers. Still, Rogue’s new power has made her mutation a million times scarier. Her mutant powers can be fixable, but with a lobotomy. However, Gambit convinces her that he’s with her no matter what.
