What You Need to Know: Gwen Stacy is a Spider Woman with more responsibilities then she may want. She is now the only Spider able to travel the Multiverse after the horrific events of Spider-Geddon and the loss of close friends. But in the aftermath, Gwen has made the choice to be a better version of herself and keep her friends and family as close as possible. But of course, she still wants to be Spider-Gwen. . .
In This Issue: Now that Gwen is back home, she is concentrating on spending time with her friends and getting their band “The Mary-Janes” back on track. Of course, that means having to actually deal with MJ who is also the lead singer. But once rehearsal is over, it’s off to meet Harry Osborne for dinner, which he of course is paying for. During the meal, it’s obvious to Harry that Gwen is still internally dealing with everything that has happened to her in the last few months with being in jail and Spidor-Geddon despite Gwen assuring him she is fine. But its Harry that ends up reassuring Gwen that she is the one doing the right thing and is stronger than she thinks. On the way home from the dinner, Gwen notices a woman waving for “Spider-Woman” to help her with finding her purse. While this isn’t a normal scenario Gwen would rush too, she takes the job before heading home to see her dad. Deciding a second dinner is in order, Gwen and her dad share their own father-daughter moment with more reassurance they are both doing ok. But it’s the next day when Gwen has her first day of college, that she has a moment of realization that, maybe she isn’t ok. But a bank robbery is just the distraction she needs to get herself together and even find the little old ladies’ purse. But that wasn’t just an ordinary bank robbery, and Gwen can only rest for long.
There have been so many times in the last few issues that I am sure we have all wanted to jump into the pages of Gwen’s sorry and give her a hug. It was so wonderful to see her friends and family doing what we have been wanting to do with letting her know she has been doing the right thing all this time. The dialogue is just perfect, and it is what I think Gwen needed to hear from just the right people. We all go rough times in our life’s and have to find that strength to keep going and that’s what Gwen is doing. Super Hero or not, Gwen is still just a person with feelings and dealing with life is hard no matter who you are.
