I Don’t Hate Him, I Just Can’t Be Him (Red Hood Outlaw #32 Comic Review)

Red Hood Outlaw #32-Prince Of Gotham Part 1

Synopsis: “Prince of Gotham” part one! After months on the road, Jason Todd has returned to Gotham City! But where the Red Hood once operated as an underground criminal mastermind, Jason Todd is a businessman. Unfortunately for the Penguin, his first order of business is a hostile takeover of the Iceberg Lounge and Casino! A bold new era for Jason Todd begins, and Batman is going to be so pissed off when he finds out about it.

In This Issue: Red Hood has made his return to Gotham! He was exiled, but Wingman convinced him to return because Red Hood is the kind of vigilante they need. Someone who does what Batman won’t. Taking control of crime from the inside, the inside of Penguin’s Iceberg Lounge. Jason Todd is running a casino! He has the help of Wingman, Bunker, his dog and ex-foe Suzie Su and her sisters! Jason walks back into Gotham not only oh so confidently, but very publicly as to bring Bruce Wayne’s name into the mix. What Would Bruce Wayne do is a saying a lot of comic fans live by, but it’s way weirder hearing THE Red Hood say it! It certainly ruffles some wings, since Batman is the one who exiled Jason for him shooting Penguin.  It’s only a matter of time before Batman finds out. Jason doesn’t seem to care much, he’s flaunting this to the news like it’s no big deal! Batman makes an appearance obviously gives him a lecture and tells Jason he betrayed him on multiple occasions. He aims to stop Jason and take him in, but that means Jason would be outed as Red Hood. Red Hood is the one who shot Penguin as far as Gotham City knows if he was taken in he would have to tell his side of the story and how would that look for Bruce Wayne? Damn! Jason really went there. I can’t say I blame him! Batman was harsh for beating the crap out of him before!

Hey nerds! I'm a 23 year old cosplayer from Southern California who loves comic books as well! I love going to metal and punk shows. I'm a hostess on Shoot The Breeze Comics' shows Thought Bubbles, Panel to Panel, and Guardians of the Con-Life.
Summary
A really great issue! I loved Segoiva did really great in the art, he captures Jason’s ideal look. I feel like the past issues, even though the art was awesome, Jason looked NOTHING like himself, yes of course he got a buzz cut but his facial features were totally different. Color popped as well! This opens up potentially more drama with Batman which in the future I hope resolves, but for now it’s really interesting to see.
Good
  • Great art
  • A good new addition and use of characters
  • Batman Returns! To give his 2 cents
Bad
  • Hard to find one!
