Intro:

Outpost Zero is a series about a colony of humans trying to survive on a frozen planet.  They live in the Outpost, a dome left over from the people who first established the colony.  The story follows a girl named Alea and her friends as they stumble upon secrets deep in the bowels of the Outpost.

Thoughts:

I am so far really enjoying this series.  It has some serious moments, but overall it feels like an adventure story.  This issue definitely keeps in line with that.   Throughout the series Alea and her friends have stumbled upon some mysteries about the Outpost where they live.  In this issue, Alea and her friend Sam are determined to get to the bottom of it.

Sam and Alea weren’t always friends though.  They had never spoken to each other until the events of the story.  So, it’s really nice to see them developing a strong friendship over their shared need for answers.  What they’re doing isn’t approved of by any of the adults in their lives.  At first Sam and Alea didn’t trust each other and used their secret as blackmail to get the other to play along.  That’s not the case anymore though.  They do trust each other and they’re actually friends now.  It was really nice to see that develop.  I also love seeing how excited and determined they are to solve this “mystery of the Outpost”.

As far as the art goes, I really like it.  It’s relatively simple, but there are still plenty of details.  The characters are expressive and interact really well with their environment.  What I mean by that is that everything goes together cohesively and looks like it belongs.  Nothing stands out as odd unless it’s supposed to.

Summary
I really love this series, I’m having a great time. There was something introduced at the very end that I am excited to see more of. It’s one of my favorite things about science fiction and I’m excited that it’s showing up in a series I’m having so much fun with.
