What you Need to Know: Now that Captain Marvel has been outed to the world as being half Kree, the world has not been to kind about it. The Air Force has even revoked her military title and privileges as a result. As if that wasn’t bad enough, her powers recently have begun to fade, and she has no idea why. Thankfully, a new hero named “Star” has taken her place as the perfect blonde superhero to save the day. With everything going on, it seems appropriate that old rival Minerva should show up at Carol’s door asking for a truce since they share Kree blood. For now, . . .
In This Issue: Carol is up early taking a meeting with Abigail Brand about her current status on the team when her boyfriend, James Rhodes AKA War Machine comes strutting in. The meeting is cut short as Carol suggests something a little different for them to do, such as scouring the sewers underneath Manhattan searching for Minerva. Using the tracker, she planted on her, they come to a lair containing a Kraken thing that looks just like the one that attacked her as well as Carol’s said tracker. Meanwhile at Stark Unlimited, Tony and Jessica are trying to figure out what is going on with Carol’s powers… without letting Carol know. They are interrupted with news of the Kraken that Captain Marvel is attempting to fight gets out of control in Manhattan. Just as things are about to get bad, Star shows up to save the day making Carol finally take Tony’s offer to figure out just what is wrong. After a multitude of tests, the gang is no closer to answers then before other than a device lodged in her chest that looks vaguely familiar to Carol. Stealing Tony’s car, the girls go back to Carol’s family home in Maine finding something similar to the virus in her chest. Wanting one more shot, Carol goes back down to find Minerva and some answers but gets more then she is really prepared for.
This issue seemed to move kind of slow despite the battle and suspense fullness but considering the story is still building it would only seem fair. Not to mention that now there are more questions than answers that are going to drive everyone, fans included crazy. SO, we know there is someone hidden in the background and still no one is concerned with the Carol look-alike running around. Except me, and hopefully some of you readers. But that could only mean she is going to have a bigger role coming up right? Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this is a bad story at all, just sometimes good stories move kind of slow. Either it’s the buildup or just how its written. I mean, Carol has lived her whole life fighting and protecting people with her powers and to see her internally struggle with the fact she may not be able to do it anymore is heartbreaking. But I’m holding out hope like our hero that this isn’t just another cliché’ ending. Although I will say, Captain Marvel having he own Batcave was kind of cool.
