What You Need to Know: Jane Foster was once, The God of Thunder, and now is known as the Last Valkyrie, wielder of Undrjarn the All-Weapon. She recently fought Bullseye and The Grim Reaper, both working on behalf of the Hell Lord Mephisto. But she is also still learning how to use her powers and worse, trying to figure out how to balance her Superhero life and her Mortal life. Unable to explain her many disappearances, she has been sent to work in the Morgue which, as Valkyrie, could be worse. . .
In This Issue: Just another day at work in the Morgue for Jane Foster and her a little out-there coworker Dr. Rudy Gillespie. But when their current patient rises from the table and attacks with a message; “Death is Dying!” then it turns into something different. Surprisingly, at Dr. Gillespie’s request, he tells Jane that as not only a Doctor but as a Valkyrie to go help! So, Jane decides to call in her IOU with the good Dr. Strange to help (since she did just recently save his soul from being taken to Valhalla early) and get her to find Death. But first, they are going to need some help from more Doctors who also happen to be Superheroes; Cardiac, Dr. Faiza Huzzain AKA Excalibur, Dr. Whitman Knapp or Whit AKA Manikin and Night Nurse. As the gang enters the realm of Death, since Death is in every room, they are immediately attacked by Zombies! With the dead not letting up Jane is able to find a way across the hoard with the gang and the group fly (literally and figuratively) to find Death’s Castle.
I’m slightly torn about if I like the fact that Dr. Gillespie knows about Jane’s secret. I mean, of all characters, while a little odd, is smart enough to figure it out. And it’s nice for Jane to have another ally in her “Non-Super Her Life” to know her secret as a just in case. But something too many people knowing can also backfire. Kind of like in the Toby Maguire “Spiderman” movies where everyone was seeing him with his mask off and it became pointless for him to have a secret identity. But hey, maybe Jane has better luck the Toby. I am anxious to see her fight more with Dr. Strange as the two make a surprisingly great team up and Strange having more knowledge to help Jane on her further adventures.
