Bruce is making big moves throughout his city. With the City of Bane coming to a close Gotham has calmed down a big. Perhaps in part to Wayne Ent. big new project to renovate Gotham. Keeping everyone around employed. In any case, these kinds of actions don’t happen in Gotham without notice or opposition. Especially if there’s money involved.

This Issue

Riddler and Penguin collaborate for mutual safety. Penguin killing everyone in his corner to ensure there is nothing the entity that hired the five assassins to come to take anything from him. Known as the Designer, he is feared enough for Penguin to try and convince Edward to quit crime and settle down. Having already tried and failed that, he joins Cobblepot to make a stand.

Having subdued the five most expensive assassins available. In a state of the art facility given to the GCPD by Wayne Ent. The Black Block. There he discovers one of the killers in the cells is actually a decoy. Batman deploys his new luge in pursuit of Cheshire. Only to find out he ha only barely scratched the surface to the insidious plot before him, everyone has their own part to play.

Thoughts

The second issue of Tynion’s new Gotham is looking like some good build-up. Sinister plots unfold as we find out the person conspiring against Bruce has prepared for everything. Slade being the Hannibal of his group even mentioning how he loves it when a plan comes together. Bruce off on a wild goose chase as the plot unfolds before us and behind the bat.

The Designer is a very interesting figure and idea. Don’t get me wrong he is very interesting. I wanna see how he stands out. We haven’t seen much, but this being has to compete with the Court of Owls, City of Bane, the Joker, etc. As far as other masterminds are concerned. It’s exciting really, but I’m skeptical. Using Penguin again as the whistleblower comes off strange when the City of Ban did exactly that. For now, I’m keeping the faith.

Born in Florida, dragged to California because of Internet dating. Comics have always helped me have a healthy escape when I was younger. As I got older my friends used me as their comic encyclopedia for random trivia. Now, I show my daughter all the stories and characters that helped me through, and being able to share my views on that through reviews is one of my favorite privileges.
Summary
I like where this is going so far. My only issue is the overplayed genius villain. Seeing we just came off of the City of Bane. I'm a little tired of the masterminds Though I will wait to see how it's written to judge it, I am very skeptical about it.
Good
  • Connecting Dots
  • Gotham Improvements
  • Callbacks across Gotham
Bad
  • Little Slow Read
  • Wish we had a break from masterminds.
