What You Need to Know:

Hell’s Kitchen is now Hell on Earth. Riots everywhere, supervillains attacking, the police standing by and watching the neighborhood burn. The people of Hell’s Kitchen have taken it upon themselves to fight back, donning Daredevil masks and costumes. And after a bloody battle and the return of Typhoid Mary, Matt dons the mask of one of the fallen civilians and becomes Daredevil once again.

What Happens:

Stilt Man is bombing buildings left and right, throwing grenades everywhere he goes, leading him and Matt to the church Rhino was about to tear down himself. Typhoid Mary walks out and attacks Rhino, while Matt takes on Stilt Man, destroying his stilts with his grenades. Just as Matt seems taken down by the arrival of the Owl, Bullet, and Crossbones, the people of Hell’s Kitchen come to his defense and fight them as well. Before Crossbones can kill one of them, Wilson Fisk himself arrives and punches him unconscious. Owl’s men start abandoning him, stating they wanted to take over Hell’s Kitchen, not destroy it. After Foggy arrives and gives Daredevil his sticks, he goes to work and takes down every supervillain the Owl had brought with him single-handed. Cole takes down the Owl, and Fisk orders for Matt’s arrest, which he refuses. But shockingly, Matt turns himself into the authorities, for the murder of Leo Carraro, ending the issue.

Thoughts:

This might be my favorite issue. The action is so intense and amazing to look at, Marco Checchetto’s art is gorgeous as always. The fight against all of the Owl’s villains was so cool. Matt is the best he’s been all run, and that’s saying something because he has been amazing since Zdarsky took over. Fisk coming in to help take down the Owl is such a highlight for me, I can never get enough of villain vs villain. This story even managed to make Stilt Man a legitimate threat. Mary is also really cool and fun this issue, running around leading the Rhino wherever she wants before leaving once the action died down, I’m excited to see her again. I don’t have much else to add, this issue is amazing, and this run of Daredevil will probably go down as one of my favorites.
