What You Need To Know:

Last time on Venom, Eddie, Dylan, and Virus all got sucked through the Maker’s portal machine to a whole other universe, while the Maker pays a visit to his old home in Earth-1610. That’s… about it really, pretty simple issue actually.

What Happens:

The symbiote begins communing with the new hive mind on this Earth, where it’s clear that Knull, or at this universe’s equivalent, has taken over. Virus strikes, demanding to know what Eddie has done to bring him here, and that he pay for everything he’s done to him in the past. Over the course of the fight, Virus blasts Venom with his lasers and other weapons he has built into his suit. And after enough damage, the symbiote tells Eddie that they have a new ability here on this Earth, as his hand begins to form into tenacles and glow, and a giant blue laser fires from his hand, sending Virus flying. In other words, we are at the point where Venom can fire Kamehamehas and I am here for it!

After the fight, the Avengers show up! Buuuuuut it’s this universe’s Avengers where they’re all wearing Symbiotes and are clearly evil. They attack Venom, Dylan, and Virus, capturing the Virus while Venom and Dylan escape to the sewers. The Avengers bring Virus to their leader Codex, and he takes his helmet off, not revealing to us who he is because we don’t actually get to see his face. While in the sewers, Eddie and Dylan run and hide, running into the Resistance of this world, and they’re all a bunch of Agent Venoms! And their leader’s identity will be a shock!

Thoughts:

Another really fun issue! The fight between Venom and Virus was really cool to see. And, as I mentioned, Venom can do Kamehamehas now, it’s the best! Codex seems cool, he looks like Knull if he was more humanoid and less skeletal, and had a mask over his mouth, something we should ALL be wearing right now during this pandemic by the way, just saying. Even horrible cult monster gods respect social distancing. I’m really excited to see where this arc is going, especially with the resistance Agent Venoms of this world. And Juan Gedeon’s art is great, he makes the action so dynamic and the futuristic apocalypse city looks so cool! I’m all for him doing more issues going forward.
