After Bruce wakes up from a 3-day nightmare in Harley’s place. She explains to him that Joker is purchasing armament and vehicles for the now united gangs of Gotham. Alongside the shadiest lawyers in the city to keep the city’s police force from mobilizing on this clown’s army.
Joker has also bought up every second of ad space in Gotham. An invitation to see the cult classic Zoro from a terrified and restrained man with a Z carved into his face. A now both incredibly bothered and exhausted Bruce goes to the theatre where his life’s horrors began.
Seeing as Joker filled the place with the corpses of everyone he’s killed. The show has no vacancy and with his new corpse puppet trick, he used on the Designer. Bruce is gonna have his hands full simply getting out in better shape.
Bruce is caught up in a hard fight for his life against the corpses of Joker’s victim. Meanwhile, the new Joker toxin is having a lasting and adverse effect on Bruce. He can hear Alfred in the comms. While visually, everyone he’s fighting becomes distorted. This forces Bruce to blindfold himself to the center of the room. There, he can use an EMP to fry the nanobots animating these corpses. Which gives him a moment of peace from Alfred’s voice as well.
As he dark knight slumps out the theater. Beaten, exhausted, and intoxicated. Harley stumbles on him once more. She took him to her Eden. A place of wonderous plant life that Ivy had made for Harls jus after the Joker had poisoned her. There, she forces Bruce to drink what appears to be Ivy ayahuasca and WHEW BOY is Bruce finna trip till the cows come home.
This issue is still giving me more of the same thing. Buildup. I grant Tynion that this was a more entertaining build-up. I don’t want more of this. I’m already on the edge of my seat and I feel start to ease back out of boredom in waiting. I’m bothered that these haven’t grabbed me quite yet and this is the third issue of this Joker War.
