First announced last summer, this new film revisits the 1992 comic book story by Mike Carlin, Dan Jurgens, Roger Stern, Louise Simonson, Jerry Ordway, and Karl Kessel. that saw Superman killed by the monstrous Doomsday. The story of Superman’s demise flooded major news outlets and inspiring fans to wear black armbands. The first DC Universe Original Movie, Superman: Doomsday in 2007 was constrained to a 75 minute runtime and significantly changed the story. This version will have it’s differences but be much closer to the original story and will be part one of series. Another animated film, The Reign of the Supermen, the same as the arc that followed “Death of Superman,” will tell the story of his inevitable return.
